And, I can?t even explain the feeling very well. I?m just not myself. It?s not depression; it?s more of a haze that surrounds me. In fact, if I look long enough, I can even see it. And, I haven?t met a person yet who didn?t feel this way at one time or another. After years of trying different techniques to bring myself back into balance, I?ve learned a few things that work for certain, without fail, every time. The thing is, these techniques are so simple that I?m often surprised at myself for ever having stopped practicing them in the first place. I know for sure that going to bed at the same time every night and waking up at the same time every morning both go a long way towards bringing your physical body back into balance. I read a study once that suggested a 10:00 PM bedtime with a 6:00 AM wake up time were optimal for most people. I?ve actually found that it isn?t so much the time of day as much as it is developing a routine that your body can depend upon. I know for sure that sleeping when you?re tired and eating when you?re hungry can impact your life in a big way. Simple?but, life-changing. I know for sure that turning off the television at least one hour before bed allows your mind to relax into a state that?s conducive to a good night?s sleep. Something about watching television has a double-edged effect for me. It?s certainly one of the first places I?ve been known to turn at the end of a long day just to allow myself to enter a ?mindless zone,? if only for a few minutes. | |||||||||||||||||
