I thought I will stop my updates for today after the last one, but then I thought if I don't inform you about this one then I am missing out on my duty.
What I am going to inform you in this post are not your regular giveaway events where marketers come together and contribute gifts. Feast for you and list for them! :)
Off late another concept of giveaway has also become very popular. You know that there are several product launches happening every year and now we have Home Study courses being launched by big names. These courses are costly and can not be afforded by everyone. But, many big names offer big bonuses with these packages, so, some times people buy to get the bonuses rather than the main package! :) Some people go the extent of buying 2 packages from different marketers to get their bonuses.
Now, what do you do with these packages, either gift them to someone or Lauch an affiliate contest for your product and award it to the best affiliate or sell them on eBay, where you get probably 50% of what you paid or organize a contest where you this product away free, yes you don't charge anything, just give it away. Now, you might be thinking I have lost my mind, but there are marketers who are following this strategy.
Why are they doing this? Have they gone mad? Nope!
Another Giveaway Marketing strategy for massive list building. Here is how it works. You let people know that you are going to giveaway the latest Homestudy course, you will do a random draw to pik the name of winner. All they have to do is register for the event. Do you see the sheer power of this strategy, how many people will come on your list to become part of this contest?
But, you don't leave it there, you make it viral by telling your participants that if they promote it others they will get additional entries in to the random drawing. Thus they can increase their chance of winning by letting others know about the event. Normally, these kind of events run for a month or so and the organizer tend to benefit in a great if s/he markets it well.

Oh! I forgot to tell you, this list building strategy is much better than buying leads. Consider this, how much money will you spend if you wanted a targeted list of say around 5,000 (if marketed well, this could be the minimum size of list you can build)? At the least $500-1000 to get these leads and these leads may not be responsive. How about investing the same amount in form of Home Study course and then giving it away. This will allow you to create a Viral Marketing Machine, which spreads on its own! :)

Hi again,
How about making some money upfront from Giveaways.
Harris Fellman of "The Site Stealer" plays Santa this time for his Santa Sal Giveaway.
Currently the site is inviting JVs and you can join as a JV partner here.
This Giveaway goes live on 14-December.
Now, about the making money upfront. When you refer a member/contributor to the site you make $1 and for the members they refer you get $0.5.
This strategy is used in past for building huge lists really quick. Mike Filsaime used it for his Death of Internet Marketing Report. So, now you see the same getting used for Giveaways. Especially with competition becoming really stiff in the giveaway market, staying just with good old promotion strategies is not going to help. We will have to come up with new strategies.

The treat for you doesn't seem to end.
The Grand Daddy's Giveaway has also gone live. Mark makes it a point to make it bigger and better every year.
Though Mark keeps the main format same, he keeps adding new twists every year. I always look forward to 12 days of Christmas every year.
Mark is using Giveaway Manager this year to manage the giveaway, but he has kept the format same i.e. not releasing all gifts at once. He release gifts every alternate day. So, people keep coming again and again to the site. This is really good traffic srategy.
Also, Mark keeps special members only offers, where all promoters get commission if someone takes up Mark's products in the special offer. Also, the contributors are asked to offer specials for members. This was introduced from last year.
That's why 12 days has been a good learning ground for me for differnt giveaway strategies. So, if you want to learn some Giveaway Marketing strategies, join 12 days of Christmas right now and experience yourself.

I normally ask this question to myself when I see an announcement of a new giveaway event. Most of the giveaways just come up with a different name to associate with current festive season or theme, but lack what I call USP (Unique Selling Proposition). They don't give you What's In It For Me.
Now, you might say that Giveaways simply give you so many downloads at no cost, so, what else do I want. But, if everyone is doing the same, why should I join all giveaways. I can just restrict to Easter JV Gifts or 12 Days of Christmas or The Super Gifts the most popular ones.
When I received an invite from Sean Wu for Operation Black Box, I had all the above thoughts in my mind. So, first thing that killed all those thoughts was participation by big names in IM. I expected that because Sean Wu has good reputation for the two products he has released so far, Tag and Ping and Auto Social Poster. So, I was sure that Sean will not do run-of-mill giveaway, he will surely do something new.
I was taken by big suprise when I saw the download area, here's what I saw - a list of links:

If you've ever taken part in an online giveaway,
you know that they're not always what they're
cracked up to be...
They promise the moon, but when you actually
get to the offer, it makes you sick to your
stomach.
I hate to say it, but... most of them aren't worth
your time because most of the products are crap (I
know this will probably piss of some people, but
it's a fact. That's why I rarely participate in them)
